Published in Instagram Story Background 2 mins read

When you share a post to your Instagram story, the platform automatically adds a background. You can easily change this default background color using the editing tools available in the story creator.

To change the background color on your Instagram story after sharing a post, you need to use the drawing tool to select a new color and then apply it to the background area.

Step-by-Step Guide to Changing the Background

Here's how you can adjust the background color when sharing a feed post to your story:

  1. Share the Post: First, share the Instagram post to your story as you normally would. Tap the paper airplane icon below the post and select "Add post to your story."
  2. Access Drawing Tools: Once the post appears in your story editor, look at the top of the screen for the editing icons. Tap the pencil icon (or drawing tool icon) to open the drawing options.
  3. Choose Your Color: A color palette will appear, usually at the bottom of the screen. Scroll through the colors or use the eyedropper tool to choose your new color that you want for the background.
  4. Apply the Color: With your desired color selected, tap and hold the current background color area of the post preview (the area outside the shared post itself). Hold for a moment until the entire background changes to the color you selected.
  5. Finish Editing: Once the background is changed, you can add text, stickers, or GIFs if you wish. Tap "Done" in the top corner after using the drawing tool.
  6. Share Your Story: Proceed to share the story with your followers.

This simple process allows you to customize the look of your shared posts on your story, making them more visually appealing or cohesive with your brand or mood.
