How do I change the transparency of a part in Inventor?

You can change the transparency of inactive components in Inventor through the Application Options. Here's how:

  1. Open Application Options: Access the Application Options dialog box within Inventor. This is usually found under the "Tools" menu or the "Inventor" button (the large "I" in the upper-left corner) and then selecting "Application Options."

  2. Go to the Display Tab: In the Application Options dialog box, navigate to the "Display" tab.

  3. Adjust Inactive Component Appearance: Locate the "Inactive Component Appearance" section. You'll find a setting labeled "% opaque" (percent opaque).

  4. Modify the Opacity: Change the percentage value to adjust the transparency. A lower percentage makes the inactive components more transparent, while a higher percentage makes them more opaque (less transparent). A value of 100% means the component is completely opaque, and 0% means it is completely transparent (invisible).

Essentially, you're controlling how faded or transparent inactive components appear in your assembly or part environment, helping you focus on the active parts you're currently working on. Remember, this setting affects inactive components, not active ones. The active component always remains fully opaque.
