# Navigating to Font Settings

Published in iOS Fonts 2 mins read

On iOS 18, while changing the global system font isn't a standard feature accessible through a simple setting, you can manage fonts available for use within various applications. This allows you to install, view, and remove fonts that supported apps can then offer as options.

To access the main font settings on your iOS 18 device, follow the path outlined in the reference:

Go to Settings General, then tap Fonts.

Navigating to Font Settings

Accessing the font management area is straightforward:

  • Open the Settings app on your Home Screen.
  • Scroll down and tap on General.
  • Within the General settings, locate and tap on Fonts.

You can visualize the navigation path like this:

Step Location Action
1 Settings Tap
2 General Tap
3 Fonts Tap

What You Can Do in Font Settings

The Fonts section in Settings is primarily where you manage fonts installed on your device for use by applications. This typically includes:

  • Viewing Installed Fonts: See a list of all fonts currently available on your iOS device.
  • Installing New Fonts: If you have downloaded font packages (often from the App Store or reputable third-party font providers), this section facilitates their installation.
  • Removing Fonts: Uninstall fonts that you no longer need.

Once fonts are installed via this setting, they become available for selection within creative apps, word processors, design tools, and other applications that support the use of custom fonts.

Important Note: The "Fonts" setting in General is designed for managing fonts used by applications. It does not provide an option to change the default system interface font that is used across menus, app names, and other core elements of iOS itself. Changing the system UI font is generally not possible through standard settings on iOS.
