You're likely not seeing your Face ID and Passcode settings because Restrictions (now called Content & Privacy Restrictions) are enabled on your device, preventing access to these security options.
Understanding Content & Privacy Restrictions
Content & Privacy Restrictions, found within Screen Time settings, allow you to limit access to certain apps, features, and settings on your iPhone or iPad. This is often used by parents to control what their children can access. If these restrictions are enabled, they can effectively hide the Face ID and Passcode options.
How to Check Content & Privacy Restrictions
Follow these steps to see if Restrictions are causing the issue:
-
Open the Settings app.
-
Tap Screen Time.
-
Tap Content & Privacy Restrictions.
- If Content & Privacy Restrictions is toggled on, it may be the reason you cannot see your Face ID and Passcode options.
Resolving the Issue
Here's how to regain access to your Face ID and Passcode settings:
-
Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions.
-
Toggle Content & Privacy Restrictions to the off position.
- If you are prompted for a Screen Time passcode, enter it. If you don't remember the Screen Time passcode, you'll need to reset it (usually by verifying your Apple ID).
After turning off Content & Privacy Restrictions, return to Settings > Face ID & Passcode. You should now be able to see and modify these security settings.
