To clarify, you don't turn off the power button itself; you use the power button (top button on iPads with Face ID or the Home button on older iPads) to turn off the iPad. Here's how:
Turning off your iPad

Press and hold the top button (power button). On iPads with Face ID, this is the top button. On older iPads with a Home button, it is the button on the top or side.

Drag the power-off slider. Keep holding the top button until the power-off slider appears. Drag the slider to the right to turn off your iPad.

Wait for the iPad to power down. The screen will go black, indicating that the iPad is off.
Note: If you are having trouble powering off your iPad with the power button, you can also try turning it off via Settings:
- Go to Settings > General > Shut Down. Then, follow step 2 above.
