Changing your contact card on an iPhone allows you to keep your personal information up-to-date or select which specific contact entry represents you. This card, often referred to as "My Card," is used by your iPhone for features like autofill, sharing your contact info, and identifying yourself.
Here's how you can manage and change your designated contact card:
Editing Your Current "My Card"
If you need to update details like your phone number, email address, mailing address, or add information to the contact card already set as "My Card":
- Open the Contacts App: Tap the Contacts app icon on your Home Screen, or open the Phone app and tap the "Contacts" tab at the bottom.
- Find Your Card: Tap My Card at the top of your contact list. Your designated card will usually have your name and photo at the very top.
- Start Editing: Once you've opened your card, then tap Edit in the upper-right corner.
- Update Information: Enter your contact information into the relevant fields. You can add phone numbers, emails, addresses, websites, social profiles, birthdates, and more. You can also change your photo or add a Memoji.
- Save Changes: Tap "Done" in the upper-right corner to save all the updates you've made to your My Card.
Changing Which Contact is Your "My Card"
Sometimes you might have multiple entries for yourself, or you might want to designate a different contact (like a business card entry for yourself) as your official "My Card."
- Open the Contacts App: Go back to the main Contacts list.
- Find the Desired Contact: Scroll through your contact list or use the search bar to find the specific contact entry you want to set as your "My Card."
- Designate as My Card: Once you've found the contact, touch and hold your contact in the list. A menu will pop up.
- Select Option: Tap Make this My Card from the options provided in the pop-up menu.
- Confirm: The selected contact entry will now be designated as your "My Card" at the top of the Contacts list. The previous "My Card" will revert to a standard contact entry.
By following these steps, you can ensure your iPhone uses the correct and most current information for your contact card, whether you're just updating details or changing which entry represents you.
