Where can I find the passcode on my iPhone?

Published in iPhone Passcode 1 min read

You cannot find your existing passcode on your iPhone in the sense of revealing it if you've forgotten it. Your passcode is encrypted for security. However, you can manage your passcode settings in the following locations, depending on your iPhone model:

  • iPhone X and later, or iPad with Face ID: Go to Settings > Face ID & Passcode.
  • Earlier iPhone models (with Touch ID): Go to Settings > Touch ID & Passcode.
  • Devices without Touch ID or Face ID: Go to Settings > Passcode.

Within these settings, you can change your passcode, turn it off, or adjust related security options.

Important Note: If you've forgotten your passcode, you'll need to erase your iPhone to remove it. This will delete all data on your device. You can then restore your iPhone from a backup if you have one. If you don't have a backup, you will lose your data. Apple Support provides detailed instructions on how to restore your iPhone if you've forgotten your passcode.
