How to make memories in iPhone?

Published in iPhone Photos Memories 2 mins read

The iPhone Photos app automatically curates your photos and videos into collections called 'Memories'. These are created for you based on events, people, places, and times, essentially "making" memories from your photo library. While the iPhone creates these automatically, you can easily find, view, and save your favourite Memory movies.

Here's how you can interact with the Memories feature on your iPhone, focusing on accessing and saving those the app has already made for you, based on the provided steps:

Accessing and Favouriting Your iPhone Memories

The steps below detail how to locate an existing Memory movie created by your iPhone and add it to your favourites for easy access later.

  1. Find a Memory:
    • Go to the Albums tab and select the specific album you want to see memories from.
    • Alternatively, go to the Library tab and tap on Months or Days. Within these views, you might see suggested Memories.
  2. Play the Memory Movie:
    • Once you've found a Memory preview (often shown with a title and cover image), tap the More button (often represented by three dots).
    • Then, tap Play Memory Movie. The iPhone will generate and play a short video montage of the photos and videos in that Memory.
  3. Prepare to Favourite:
    • While the Memory movie is playing, tap the screen once to bring up the controls.
    • Tap the More button again (this button appears on the playback screen).
  4. Add to Favourites:
    • From the options that appear, tap Add to Favourites. This action saves the Memory to a dedicated 'Memories Favourites' section, making it easy to find again.
  5. Close the Movie:
    • Tap the Close button (usually an 'X' or 'Done') to exit the playback screen.

Adding a Memory to Favourites ensures it's highlighted and easier to revisit within the Photos app.
