To set up Face ID to work while wearing a mask on your iPhone, follow these steps:
-
Ensure your iPhone is updated: Make sure your iPhone is running iOS 15.4 or later. To check, go to Settings > General > Software Update. If an update is available, download and install it.
-
Open Face ID & Passcode Settings: Go to the Settings app on your iPhone, then scroll down and tap on "Face ID & Passcode."
-
Enable Face ID with a Mask: Scroll down until you find the option "Face ID with a Mask" and toggle it on.
-
Set up Face ID with a Mask: When prompted, tap "Use Face ID with a Mask." Follow the on-screen instructions. The process is similar to setting up Face ID normally; you will be asked to move your head in a circle so the iPhone can capture different angles of your face. You might be asked to do this twice.
That's it! Your iPhone should now recognize your face even when you're wearing a mask. If you wear glasses, you'll be given the option to add a pair of glasses to improve recognition.
