Iron is not produced in the body. The body obtains iron solely through absorption from dietary sources.
Dietary Iron Sources
Since the body cannot produce iron, it's crucial to consume iron-rich foods. According to the reference material, there are two types of iron found in food:
- Heme Iron: This type of iron is found in animal products like red meat, poultry, and pork. It is more easily absorbed by the body.
- Non-Heme Iron: Found in plant-based foods, this type of iron is less readily absorbed.
Increasing Iron Levels
If your iron levels are low, it's recommended to increase your intake of iron-rich foods.
