Iron is one of only three naturally magnetic elements, alongside cobalt and nickel. Among these three, iron exhibits the strongest magnetic properties. The primary iron ores include hematite (containing 70% iron) and magnetite (containing 72% iron). Another iron ore, taconite, is considered low-grade and contains up to 30% magnetite and hematite.
