How Do You Join Irrigation Tubing?

Published in Irrigation Systems 1 min read

To join irrigation tubing, especially connecting 1/4" tubing to 1/2" (or larger) tubing, you'll generally need a few key items and follow these steps:

Materials You'll Need:

  • One-quarter inch punch
  • One-quarter inch irrigation tubing
  • One-quarter inch coupling
  • One-half inch (or larger) poly tubing

Steps:

  1. Punch a Hole: Use the 1/4" punch to create a hole in the larger (1/2" or greater) poly tubing.
  2. Insert the Coupling: Insert the 1/4" coupling into the hole you just punched in the larger tubing. This coupling will act as the connecting point.
  3. Connect the Tubing: Attach the 1/4" irrigation tubing to the open end of the 1/4" coupling. Ensure the tubing is securely connected to the coupling for a leak-proof seal.

This method allows you to efficiently branch off smaller lines from a larger main irrigation line. Other methods might involve different types of fittings depending on the tubing sizes and materials.
