Astronomical calculations suggest that the holy month of Ramadan, observed by Muslims worldwide, will be experienced twice within the same Gregorian calendar year in 2030. This phenomenon last occurred in 1997. In 2030, Ramadan will begin in January and then occur again later in December. This happens because the Islamic calendar is lunar, and shorter than the solar Gregorian calendar.
