Does Touching Wife's Breast Break Wudu?

Published in Islamic Jurisprudence 1 min read

According to Hanafi Fiqh, touching a wife's breast does not break wudu unless pre-seminal fluid (mazi) is discharged.

Here's a breakdown:

  • Hanafi View: In the Hanafi school of thought, physical contact with one's spouse, including touching, does not nullify wudu. The focus is on impurity leaving the body.

  • Discharge Matters: The exception is the discharge of mazi (pre-seminal fluid). If this occurs due to arousal, then wudu is broken.

  • Darul Uloom Deoband Fatwa: The official ifta website of Darul Uloom Deoband in India confirms this view. They state that touching alone does not break wudu, but the discharge of mazi does.

In Summary: Touching a wife's breast itself does not invalidate wudu in the Hanafi school. However, if it leads to the discharge of pre-seminal fluid (mazi), then wudu is broken and must be renewed.
