Generally, in Islam, there are no definitive signs by which a person can know with certainty that their death is approaching. However, certain indicators may suggest that the end of life is nearing.
While pinpointing the exact moment of death remains with Allah (God), Islamic teachings offer some observations that might indicate its approach:
- Severe Sickness: A significant and debilitating illness from which recovery is statistically unlikely can be considered a possible sign. The illness must be severe enough to suggest a potential threat to life. It should be noted that even with severe illnesses, recovery is always possible by the will of Allah.
It's important to remember that these are not guarantees, but rather potential indicators. Islamic belief emphasizes acceptance of Allah's decree (Qadar) and encourages preparing for the afterlife through good deeds and repentance, regardless of perceived signs. Only Allah knows when death will occur.
