Which insect spoke in the Quran?

Published in Islamic Teachings 1 min read

The insect that spoke in the Quran is the ant.

Prophet Solomon (Sulaiman), peace be upon him, was known for his ability to understand the language of animals and insects. The Quran describes an event where Solomon and his army were passing through a valley inhabited by ants. An ant warned its colony to take cover to avoid being crushed by Solomon and his troops. Solomon, understanding the ant's warning, smiled and was grateful to God for his blessings and for enabling him to understand and respect even the smallest creatures. This event is mentioned to illustrate Solomon's wisdom, compassion, and gratitude to God.

The relevant verse highlighting this event can be found in Surat An-Naml (Chapter of the Ant) in the Quran. It is an example of the wisdom of Solomon, showing his respect for all of God's creatures.
