You can hide layers in Krita using a few different methods, allowing for flexibility in managing your artwork. Here's how:
Hiding a Single Layer
The most straightforward way to hide a layer is:
- Locate the Layers Panel: This is typically on the right-hand side of the Krita interface. If you don't see it, go to
Window > Dockers > Layers
. - Find the Layer: Identify the specific layer you want to hide.
- Click the Eye Icon: In the Layers panel, to the left of the layer name, you'll see an eye icon. Clicking this icon toggles the layer's visibility. Clicking it once will hide the layer (the eye icon will disappear or change to indicate the layer is hidden). Clicking it again will make the layer visible.
Hiding All Layers Except One
This is useful when you want to isolate a specific layer for editing or viewing.
- Locate the Layers Panel: As mentioned above, find the Layers panel.
- Identify the Desired Layer: Select the layer you want to keep visible.
- Alt-Click/Option-Click the Eye Icon: Hold down the
Alt
key (orOption
key on a Mac) and click the eye icon next to the layer you've selected. This will hide all other layers, leaving only the selected layer visible.
Additional Tips
- Layer Groups: You can hide entire groups of layers by clicking the eye icon on the group folder. This hides all layers within that group.
- Temporary Hide/Show: While working, you may want to quickly toggle a layer's visibility. The eye icon provides instant control.
- Organization: Proper layer naming and grouping can significantly improve your workflow and make it easier to manage visibility.
