What is a Pre-Wash Detergent Dispenser?

Published in Laundry Appliances 1 min read

A pre-wash detergent dispenser is a compartment in a washing machine specifically designed to hold detergent that is used during the pre-wash cycle of a wash program. This cycle helps loosen dirt and stains before the main wash, improving overall cleaning effectiveness.

The pre-wash dispenser is usually a separate compartment from the main wash detergent dispenser and the fabric softener dispenser. During a wash cycle with a pre-wash option selected, the washing machine will automatically release the detergent from the pre-wash compartment at the beginning of the cycle, before filling the drum with water for the main wash. This soaking period allows the detergent to penetrate and loosen stains, making them easier to remove during the subsequent main wash cycle.

When using a pre-wash cycle, it's important to add detergent to both the pre-wash compartment and the main wash detergent compartment. This ensures that detergent is available for both the pre-wash and main wash stages of the cycle.
