How Do You Get Stains Out of Black Polyester?

Published in Laundry & Stain Removal 2 mins read

Here's a method to remove stains from black polyester fabric:

  1. Prepare the Area: Place the stained area of the black polyester fabric on a clean, white cloth. This helps to absorb the stain as you treat it.

  2. Mix a Cleaning Solution: In a dish, combine:

    • 1 tablespoon of dishwashing liquid
    • 1 cup of white vinegar
    • 1 cup of water
  3. Apply the Solution: Soak a clean, white cloth in the cleaning solution. Gently apply the soapy cloth to the stain, working from the outside in to prevent spreading.

  4. Let it Penetrate: Allow the solution to sit on the stain for approximately 20 minutes. This gives the mixture time to break down the stain.

  5. Rub the Fabric: Gently rub the stained fabric together with the clean cloth. This helps to lift the stain from the polyester fibers.

  6. Rinse: Rinse the treated area thoroughly under a faucet with cold water to remove all traces of the cleaning solution.

  7. Launder and Air Dry: Launder the black polyester garment according to the care label instructions. After washing, air dry the garment. Avoid using a dryer until you are certain the stain is completely removed, as heat can set the stain.
