How Are Pieces Put Into LEGO Set Boxes?

Published in LEGO Packaging 1 min read

Putting the many pieces required for LEGO sets into their boxes involves an automated system designed for speed and accuracy.

Given that LEGO sets can contain hundreds of different pieces, the packaging process for getting these parts into the box needs to be remarkably fast and accurate.

According to the process described:

  • Boxes, which are referred to as cassettes, are moved along on conveyor belts.
  • These conveyor belts guide the cassettes underneath bins. Each bin is specifically designed to hold a different type of LEGO piece.
  • As a cassette passes beneath a bin, the bins are equipped to open and close.
  • This action allows the system to precisely release the right number of pieces from each bin into the cassette as it travels below.

This automated system ensures that each box receives the correct assortment and quantity of pieces needed for the specific LEGO set before it moves on to subsequent stages of packaging.
