Manually Correcting Color Casts and Tint in Lightroom

Published in Lightroom Tint 2 mins read

To remove tint and color casts in Lightroom manually, you primarily use the Temp and Tint sliders.

Color casts can make your photos look unnatural, often leaning too warm (orange/yellow), too cool (blue), too green, or too magenta. Lightroom provides simple manual controls to correct these issues directly within the Basic panel.

The key tools for this manual adjustment are the Temp and Tint sliders. They work together to adjust the white balance and remove unwanted color biases from your image.

Here's how to use them, based on the reference:

  • Adjusting Warm/Cool Casts (Temp Slider):

    • If your photo has a blue cast (too cool), drag the Temp slider to the right to add warmth.
    • If your photo has a yellow or orange cast (too warm), drag the Temp slider to the left to cool down the image.
  • Adjusting Green/Magenta Tint (Tint Slider):

    • If your photo has a green tint, use the Tint slider to offset it by dragging it to the right to add magenta.
    • If your photo has a magenta tint, use the Tint slider to offset it by dragging it to the left to add green.

By carefully adjusting these two sliders, you can neutralize unwanted color casts and bring your photo's colors back to a more natural appearance. Start with the Temp slider to get the warm/cool balance right, and then fine-tune with the Tint slider to correct any remaining green or magenta bias.
