How do you harvest a mango tree?

Published in Mango Harvesting 1 min read

Harvesting mangoes properly involves a specific technique to ensure fruit quality and tree health. It's more than just picking the fruit!

Instead of simply pulling mangoes off the tree, always use a knife when harvesting mangoes. This prevents damage to the tree and the fruit itself.

Here's how to do it:

  • Cut the stem: Cut the mango fruit so that about 5cm (approximately 2 inches) of its stem remains attached to the fruit. This stem helps to prevent sap from leaking onto the fruit, which can cause staining and reduce its quality.

Proper harvesting techniques contribute significantly to the longevity and productivity of your mango tree.
