Shifa International Hospital has started preparations and is leveraging its existing liver transplant approval to initiate a lung transplant program. This marks the first time a structured process has been started for lung transplants within the country. Although logistical preparations are underway as of November 2023, this indicates a positive step towards making lung transplantation a reality for patients in Pakistan who need it.
