The full form of IUGR disease is Intrauterine Growth Restriction.
IUGR, also sometimes referred to as Fetal Growth Restriction (FGR), describes a condition where a fetus doesn't grow at the expected rate inside the uterus during pregnancy. This means the baby is smaller than normal for the gestational age (the number of weeks of pregnancy).
While the acronym refers to the condition rather than a specific disease, it's often colloquially referred to as a disease. IUGR can occur for various reasons, including problems with the placenta, maternal health conditions, infections, or genetic factors.
