A heart jacket, often referred to as a LifeVest, is a wearable defibrillator designed to protect patients at risk of sudden cardiac arrest.
It is a non-invasive device, meaning it doesn't require surgery to be used. Unlike an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD), the LifeVest is worn externally, providing immediate protection against life-threatening arrhythmias. It continuously monitors the patient's heart rhythm and, if a dangerous rhythm is detected, delivers an electrical shock to restore a normal heartbeat.
