What is the Wavelength of the Pulse Oximeter?

Published in Medical Devices 1 min read

A pulse oximeter uses two wavelengths of light: red and infrared.

  • Red light: Approximately 660 nm
  • Infrared light: Approximately 940 nm

These specific wavelengths are chosen because oxygenated and deoxygenated hemoglobin absorb them differently. This difference allows the pulse oximeter to calculate the percentage of oxygen in the blood.
