Why is it called dermatology?

Published in Medical Terminology 1 min read

Dermatology gets its name from the Greek words "derma" meaning skin and "logos" meaning study, word, system, or field of study. The term "dermatology" is the English version of "dermatologia," where the suffix "logy" replaces the suffix "logia" found in the original Greek term.

Essentially, dermatology is the study of skin, encompassing everything from the structure and function of the skin to its various diseases and treatments.
