Can rhabdomyoma spread?

Published in Medical Tumors 1 min read

Rhabdomyoma typically does not spread (metastasize).

Rhabdomyoma is a benign (non-cancerous) tumor of striated muscle. Unlike rhabdomyosarcoma, which is a malignant (cancerous) tumor arising from similar tissue, rhabdomyomas are not known to spread to other parts of the body. Rhabdomyosarcoma can spread, often to the lungs, lymph nodes, and bones, and requires more aggressive treatment. The key difference is that rhabdomyoma is benign and rhabdomyosarcoma is malignant and capable of metastasis.
