Published in Medication Administration 1 min read

To fill an oral syringe with liquid medicine, follow these steps:

  1. Shake the bottle of medicine well, ensuring the cap is securely on.
  2. Remove the cap from the bottle.
  3. Insert the bottle adapter if necessary.
  4. Insert the top of the oral syringe into the bottle adapter.
  5. Turn the bottle upside down and pull the plunger until the medicine reaches the desired volume.

Important Notes:

  • Ensure the medicine is measured accurately using the markings on the syringe.
  • If the bottle doesn't have a bottle adapter, place it on a flat surface and carefully tip it to draw the medicine into the syringe.
  • Oral syringes come in different sizes, so it's essential to use the correct size for the required dosage.

Example:
Imagine you need to administer 2 ml of medicine. After filling the syringe, check the markings to confirm that the medicine level reaches the 2 ml mark.
