Which king married a child?

Published in Medieval History 1 min read

Richard II, King of England, married a child, Isabella of Valois.

In 1396, negotiations commenced for the marriage of six-year-old Isabella of Valois to the widower Richard II of England (1367–1400), who was 22 years her senior. This marriage was intended to secure peace between England and France. Isabella was crowned Queen of England in 1397, though the marriage was never consummated due to her age.
