Why is my blood so jelly?

Published in Menstrual Health 1 min read

Blood that appears "jelly-like" during your period is often just a blood clot leaving your uterus. These clots are usually small, about the size of a quarter, and are considered normal. The thick, jelly-like texture helps prevent excessive blood loss.

However, if you experience large or frequent blood clots, or other unusual symptoms like severe pain, excessive bleeding, or a change in the color or smell of your blood, it's best to contact your healthcare provider.

Remember that cervical mucus can also mix with blood, making it appear jelly-like. This is also perfectly normal.

It's important to be aware of any changes in your menstrual cycle and to seek medical advice if you are concerned.
