How do you remove mesh faces?

Published in Mesh Editing 2 mins read

To remove mesh faces, you first select the specific faces you want to delete and then use the delete function.

Here are the steps to remove mesh faces based on typical methods:

Step 1: Selecting Mesh Faces

You can select mesh subobject types (like faces, edges, or vertices) using a specific key combination to target different face removal scenarios.

Press Ctrl+click one of the following mesh subobject types to select faces for removal:

  • To remove only a single face: Click directly on the face you want to remove.
  • To remove adjacent faces: Click the shared edge between the faces you wish to remove.
  • To remove all faces that share a vertex: Click on the vertex point that the faces have in common.

Step 2: Deleting Selected Faces

Once the faces are selected using the method described above, the next step is straightforward.

Press the Delete key on your keyboard. This action will remove the selected mesh faces, leaving a gap or hole in your mesh structure.

By following these two steps – selecting the desired faces using Ctrl+click on the appropriate subobject type (face, edge, or vertex) and then pressing Delete – you can effectively remove mesh faces.
