The iOS messaging app offers a feature called "Invisible Ink" that can be used to send pictures (and text) that are initially hidden and revealed with a swipe. Here's how to do it:
Steps to Send a Picture with Invisible Ink on iOS
-
Open iMessage: Start by opening the iMessage app on your iPhone or iPad.
-
Select or Start a Conversation: Choose an existing conversation or start a new one.
-
Add a Photo: Tap the camera icon to select a photo from your library or take a new one.
-
Access Invisible Ink: Before sending, long press the blue send arrow (the up arrow). This will bring up the "Send with effect" screen.
-
Choose the Invisible Ink Effect: On the "Send with effect" screen, you should see different screen effects. Swipe through the options at the bottom of the screen until you find "Invisible Ink." Select it.
-
Send the Photo: The photo in the message bubble will now be obscured by a sparkling effect. Tap the send arrow again to send the message with the Invisible Ink effect.
-
Recipient Reveals the Image: The recipient will see a message covered in shimmering dots. They can swipe the message to reveal the photo underneath.
