The primary method for adding someone is through an email invitation sent directly from your account.
Inviting a User via Email
Follow these steps to send an email invitation to the person you want to add:
- Navigate to your Microsoft account dashboard and sign in.
- Locate the section dedicated to your Microsoft 365 Family subscription.
- Find the option to share your subscription. This is where you manage who has access.
- Choose the option to Invite via email. This will prompt you to enter the recipient's details.
- Enter their email address in the designated field. This is the email address where the invitation will be sent.
- Select Invite. An invitation email containing a unique link will be sent to the address you provided.
- It's crucial to ensure that the email you use to invite them should also be the email they use for their shared Microsoft 365 subscription. They will need to access this email to accept the invitation.
- Once they receive the email, They can then click on the Accept link in the email to Get Started installing Microsoft 365 Family on their computers and devices.
What Happens After Sending the Invitation?
After you send the invitation email, the process moves to the recipient:
- The person you invited receives an email with a link to accept the sharing invitation.
- They must click on the Accept link within the email.
- Clicking the link will guide them through the process of associating the shared subscription with their own Microsoft account (the one corresponding to the email address you used).
- Once accepted, they gain the ability to install and activate Microsoft 365 applications on their devices using their Microsoft account credentials.
