How Do I Un-Update Microsoft Edge?

Published in Microsoft Edge 1 min read

To un-update Microsoft Edge, you can roll back to the previous version using the Local Group Policy Editor. Here's how:

Steps to Roll Back Microsoft Edge Updates:

  1. Open the Local Group Policy Editor:

    • Press the Windows key, type "gpedit.msc," and press Enter. (Note: The Local Group Policy Editor is only available on Windows Pro, Enterprise, and Education editions.)
  2. Navigate to the Microsoft Edge Update Policy:

    • In the Local Group Policy Editor, go to: Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Microsoft Edge Update > Applications > Microsoft Edge.
  3. Enable the Rollback Feature:

    • Locate and select "Rollback to target version."
    • Select "Enabled."

After completing these steps, Microsoft Edge should revert to the previously installed version.

Important Considerations:

  • Group Policy Editor Availability: The Local Group Policy Editor is not available on Windows Home editions. If you have Windows Home, this method won't work.
