How Do I Change the Orientation of Only One Page in Word?

Published in Microsoft Word 2 mins read

To change the orientation of only one page in Microsoft Word, you'll need to use section breaks. Here's how:

  1. Insert Section Breaks:

    • Go to the page before the page you want to change the orientation of.

    • Click on the Layout tab (or Page Layout tab in older versions of Word).

    • In the Breaks group (or Page Setup group), click the dropdown arrow.

    • Choose Next Page under the Section Breaks section. This will create a new section starting on the next page.

    • Go to the page after the page you just reoriented.

    • Click on the Layout tab (or Page Layout tab in older versions of Word).

    • In the Breaks group (or Page Setup group), click the dropdown arrow.

    • Choose Next Page under the Section Breaks section. This will create a new section starting on the next page.

  2. Change the Orientation of the Specific Page:

    • Click anywhere on the page you want to change the orientation. This ensures the cursor is within the section you want to modify.
    • Click on the Layout tab (or Page Layout tab in older versions of Word).
    • In the Page Setup group, click the Orientation dropdown arrow.
    • Choose either Portrait or Landscape, depending on your desired orientation.

Word will now apply the new orientation only to the section containing the single page you selected. Pages before and after this section will retain their original orientation.

By using section breaks, you can isolate a specific page and modify its orientation without affecting the rest of your document.
