Identity and Lineage
Also known by the name Dior Eluchîl, he held a unique lineage as the son of the mortal hero Beren Erchamion of the House of Bëor and the immortal Elf-maiden Lúthien Tinúviel. His maternal grandparents were the powerful Elven King Thingol and the divine being Melian, a Maia.
This remarkable parentage made Dior the only heir to the throne of Doriath after the passing of his grandfather, King Thingol.
The King of Doriath
Following King Thingol's death, Dior inherited the kingship, becoming the ruler of the forested realm of Doriath. As the successor to Thingol, he also effectively became the High King of the Sindar.
His time as king, however, was brief and marked by significant events that ultimately led to the tragic end of the kingdom of Doriath as it had been under Thingol.
