You build a chest in Minecraft by using crafting recipes, or commands if you play on Java.
Crafting a Chest
Here's how to craft a chest, as shown in the reference video:
- Gather Wood: You need wood logs. Chop down any tree to get wood logs.
- Convert to Planks: Place the wood logs in your crafting grid to make wood planks. Each log yields four planks.
- Craft a Crafting Table: Place four wood planks in a 2x2 square in your inventory crafting grid to create a crafting table.
- Open Crafting Table: Place your crafting table on the ground and interact with it. This gives you a 3x3 crafting grid.
- Arrange planks to craft a chest: Place eight planks around the outer edge of the 3x3 crafting grid, leaving the middle square empty. The type of plank doesn't matter, you can mix different woods in the crafting recipe.
- Collect your chest: Drag the crafted chest from the results box to your inventory.
