How do you use Citadel paint stick?

Published in Miniature Painting 2 mins read

The Citadel Colour Spray Stick allows you to securely hold and spray paint your miniatures. It uses elastic bands to hold your models in place on a rotating head while you maintain a firm grip on the handle. This provides control and helps avoid direct contact with the spray paint.

Here's a breakdown of how to use it:

  1. Prepare Your Miniature: Ensure your miniature is clean, dry, and free of any debris.

  2. Position the Miniature: Place your miniature on the rotating head of the Citadel paint stick.

  3. Secure with Elastic Bands: Use the elastic bands provided to firmly secure the miniature to the head. Make sure the miniature is stable and won't move during spraying. Strategically place the bands to minimize coverage of important details.

  4. Grip the Handle: Hold the pistol-grip handle of the spray stick firmly.

  5. Spray Paint: In a well-ventilated area, hold the spray paint can approximately 8-12 inches away from the miniature. Use smooth, even strokes, rotating the head of the spray stick as needed to ensure consistent coverage. Avoid spraying too much paint in one area to prevent pooling or running.

  6. Allow to Dry: Once you've finished spraying, allow the paint to dry completely before handling the miniature.

  7. Clean Up: Remove the elastic bands and store the paint stick in a safe place. Clean up any overspray.

Using the Citadel paint stick allows for better control, more even coverage, and a cleaner painting process when spray priming or basecoating your Citadel miniatures.
