Here's a simple method to attract moths for observation, not necessarily for trapping them in a container:
-
Set up a White Sheet: Hang a white sheet outdoors, ideally on a washing line, using pegs. The white color provides a good surface for moths to land on.
-
Minimize Ambient Light: Turn off or dim any nearby bright lights that might compete with your moth attractant. Darkness helps the moths to find your sheet.
-
Shine a Light Source: Shine a torch or another bright light directly onto the sheet. Moths are attracted to light, so this will draw them in.
-
Observe and Wait: Sit back and observe the moths that are attracted to the light on the sheet. No container is needed.
