K2, also known as Chhogori/Qogir, Ketu/Kechu, and Mount Godwin-Austen, is the second-highest mountain on Earth, after Mount Everest. It is located on the border of Pakistan and China.
While "K2" is commonly used, its full name is Mount Godwin-Austen. This name was given to the mountain in honor of Henry Godwin-Austen, a British surveyor who was the first to map the Karakoram Range.
Other nicknames for K2 include The King of Mountains and The Mountaineers' Mountain.
K2 is a challenging mountain to climb, and it has a high fatality rate. However, it is also a popular destination for experienced mountaineers.
