How Big Is the Biggest MRI Machine?

The biggest MRI machine, in terms of magnet size, is exemplified by the Iseult project. It has a massive magnet with the following dimensions:

  • Weight: 132 tons
  • Length: 5 meters
  • External Diameter: 5 meters
  • Internal Diameter: 90 cm (to accommodate a whole human body)

This MRI machine achieves a nominal magnetic field of 11.7 teslas, significantly more powerful than standard hospital MRIs.
