How do you resize a canvas in MS Paint?

Published in MS Paint Canvas Resizing 1 min read

You can resize a canvas in MS Paint by dragging its border. Here's how:

Resizing the Canvas

MS Paint allows you to adjust the canvas size to fit your image or create more space. You achieve this by directly manipulating the canvas border.

  • Locate the Canvas Border: When you open an image in Paint, a gray border surrounds it. This border indicates the current canvas size.

  • Identify the Resize Boxes: Look for eight small boxes (squares) located along the gray border. These are the handles you'll use to resize the canvas.

  • Click and Drag: To change the canvas size, simply click and drag one of these boxes.

    • Dragging a corner box resizes the canvas proportionally.
    • Dragging a box on the sides or top/bottom only adjusts the width or height, respectively.
  • Increase or Decrease: Drag the boxes outward to increase the canvas size and create more space. Drag them inward to decrease the canvas size, potentially cropping your image if it extends beyond the new boundaries.
