While modern astronomy doesn't assign genders to planets, historically, different cultures have attributed genders to celestial bodies based on mythology and astrological beliefs. In some of these systems, Jupiter is associated with masculinity. For example, Kyle Gann notes in his discussion of the planets that "The male planets are Sun, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn."
