Press-on nail tape (also known as adhesive tabs) is used to attach press-on nails to your natural nails. The process involves applying the adhesive tab to your natural nail, removing the backing, and then firmly pressing the press-on nail on top.
Here’s a breakdown of how to use press-on nail tape:
- Prepare Your Natural Nails: Ensure your natural nails are clean, dry, and free of any oils or polish. Gently push back your cuticles. This step is crucial for proper adhesion.
- Select the Correct Size of Adhesive Tab: Most press-on nail kits come with adhesive tabs in various sizes. Choose a tab that closely matches the size and shape of your natural nail. The tab should cover most of your nail surface.
- Apply the Adhesive Tab to Your Natural Nail: Peel the adhesive tab from the sheet and carefully center it on your natural nail. Press it firmly to ensure it adheres well.
- Remove the Protective Film: Once the tab is securely applied, peel off the protective film from the top of the adhesive, exposing the sticky surface.
- Apply the Press-On Nail: Align the press-on nail with your cuticle and gently press it down onto the adhesive tab. Hold firmly for about 15-30 seconds to ensure a strong bond. Try to get the press-on nail slightly underneath your cuticle for a more natural look.
- Repeat for All Nails: Repeat steps 2-5 for each nail.
Tips for Best Results:
- Avoid getting your hands wet for at least an hour after application.
- If the adhesive tab is too large, you can trim it with scissors before applying.
- To remove the press-on nails, gently soak your hands in warm, soapy water. You can also use a cuticle pusher to carefully lift the edges and loosen the adhesive.
- For longer wear, you can use a small amount of nail glue in addition to the adhesive tabs, but be aware that glue can be more damaging to your natural nails.
