- Prepare Your Nails: Start with a manicure. This includes shaping your nails, gently pushing back your cuticles, and buffing the nail surface.
- Apply Base Coat & Polish: Apply a base coat and cure it if using gel polish. Then apply 1-2 coats of your chosen nail polish color. A light color, especially white, often works best to make the slider design pop. Cure each coat if using gel polish.
- Apply Top Coat (Sticky Layer): Apply a thin layer of top coat (make sure it has a sticky layer after curing) and cure under a UV/LED lamp if using gel top coat. This sticky layer is crucial for the slider to adhere properly. If using regular polish, allow it to dry completely.
- Select and Trim the Slider: Choose the slider design you want to use. Carefully cut out the desired image from the slider sheet. Trim the slider as close to the design as possible for a cleaner application.
- Activate the Slider: Place the cut-out slider in a small dish of lukewarm water for 10-20 seconds. This will loosen the decal from the backing paper.
- Slide the Decal: Gently slide the decal off the backing paper and onto your nail. Position it where you want it.
- Remove Excess Water & Smooth: Use a soft brush or silicone tool to gently press out any excess water and smooth out any wrinkles or air bubbles. Be careful not to tear the delicate decal. You can also use a lint-free wipe to absorb excess moisture.
- Clean Up Edges (if necessary): If the slider extends beyond your nail, use a small brush dipped in acetone or nail polish remover to carefully clean up the edges.
- Seal with Top Coat: Apply a generous layer of top coat to completely seal in the slider. This will protect the design and make it last longer. For gel polish, cure the top coat under a UV/LED lamp. With regular polish, allow it to dry completely. You may need two coats of topcoat for better encasement.
