How to Dip Nails at Home?

Published in Nail Dip Application 2 mins read

Dipping nails at home involves a few key steps to achieve a salon-worthy finish. Here’s a guide to the process:

Step-by-Step Guide to Dip Nails

Here's how to dip your nails at home, based on the ASP Quick Dip system:

  1. Prep:

    • Gently push back your cuticles using a Cuticle Pusher or Birchwood Stick. This step is crucial for a clean and professional look and ensures the dip powder adheres properly to the nail.
  2. Prime:

    • Apply ASP Quick Dip: Step 1 Nail Primer. The primer prepares the nail surface for better adhesion of the dip powder.
  3. Base & Dip:

    • Apply ASP Quick Dip: Step 2 Base & Top Gel Coat to the entire nail bed.
    • Immediately dip your nail into your chosen dip powder at a 45-degree angle, ensuring full coverage. Tap off any excess powder.
  4. Repeat:

    • Repeat Step 3 to build up the desired thickness and color intensity. Multiple thin layers are better than one thick layer.
  5. Activate:

    • Apply the activator. The activator hardens the dip powder layers. Let it dry for the recommended time.
  6. File & Finish:

    • File and buff the nails to smooth the surface.
    • Apply another coat of activator, followed by the ASP Quick Dip: Step 2 Base & Top Gel Coat for a glossy finish.

Tips for a Perfect Dip

  • Thin Layers: Apply the base coat and dip powder in thin layers to avoid a bulky or uneven finish.
  • Cleanliness: Ensure your tools and workspace are clean to prevent contamination of the dip powder.
  • Gentle Buffing: Be gentle when buffing to avoid damaging your natural nails.
  • Proper Sealing: Ensure the edges of your nails are properly sealed with each layer to prevent chipping.

By following these steps, you can achieve beautiful, durable, and professional-looking dip nails in the comfort of your own home.
