Bill Nelson is currently the Administrator of NASA.
Nelson was sworn in as the 14th NASA Administrator on May 3, 2021. He is responsible for carrying out the Biden-Harris administration's vision for the agency, which includes continued exploration, scientific discovery, and technological innovation in space.
Prior to becoming NASA Administrator, Nelson served as a U.S. Senator for Florida for 18 years. He also has personal experience in space, having flown as a payload specialist on space shuttle mission 61-C in 1986. His background as a politician and astronaut provides him with a unique perspective to lead NASA.
