However, several other nerves are located near the ear, and pain or discomfort behind the ear could be caused by issues with these nerves as well. Here are some examples:

- Vestibular cochlear nerve: This nerve is responsible for hearing and balance. A tumor on this nerve, called an acoustic neuroma, can cause pain behind the ear, as well as hearing loss and dizziness.
- Facial nerve: As mentioned before, the facial nerve can be affected by shingles, leading to Ramsay Hunt syndrome. This condition can cause facial paralysis, hearing loss, and pain behind the ear.
