At birth, a baby has approximately 100 billion neurons.
While a newborn possesses a vast number of neurons, the connections (synapses) between these neurons are relatively few compared to later stages of development. The brain's development after birth largely focuses on forming and strengthening these connections through experiences and learning. This process, known as synaptic plasticity, allows the brain to adapt and specialize throughout life.
